In 2024, the Junta de Castilla y León launched an initiative: to create a network of Social Innovation Centres to revitalise the border areas with Portugal. The first one was born in Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca, in a highly symbolic location: the former health centre, now renamed La Estrella. Where the body was once cared for, today ideas and communities are cared for too. La Estrella keeps its spirit of service, but with a new mission: to drive innovative projects with a sustainable social, economic and environmental impact. It is much more than a building: it is a space where people remain at the centre, and where the region's future begins to be written with creative and collaborative solutions.
