The city of Ciudad Rodrigo has taken an important step in its strategy to position itself as a key destination for meetings, congress and incentive tourism, with the recent visit of a select group of event organisers at national level. This initiative forms part of the M.I.C.E. strategy (tourism specialising in meetings, incentives and congresses), which is being promoted by the Ciudad Rodrigo City Council in collaboration with the company Preiper Luxe.

During their visit, the organisers were welcomed by the Mayor of Ciudad Rodrigo, Marcos Iglesias, the Deputy Mayor, Ramón Sastre, and the Delegate for Trade and Hospitality, Paola Martín Muñoz, who shared with the visitors the various possibilities and advantages the city offers for hosting large-scale, high-profile events.

During this working day, the organisers were able to learn in detail about the Centro de Innovación Social “La Estrella”, a project that stands out for its cutting-edge approach and its capacity to host events related to innovation and sustainability. A meeting was also held with Manuel González and Meli Guerrero, director and professional coordinator of the Feria de Teatro de Castilla y León, who presented the city’s potential as a venue for cultural and artistic events.

The visit, organised by Ciudad Rodrigo’s technical tourism team, led by Lourdes Sánchez, gave event promoters a comprehensive overview of the facilities, spaces and services the city has to offer organisers of congresses, fairs and professional gatherings. Participants highlighted the city’s versatility and rich history as distinguishing factors for hosting unique events.
