The CIS-CIT “La Estrella” has presented the project “Ecoemprende Rural: Innovating for Sustainability”, an initiative aimed at boosting young talent and fostering sustainable entrepreneurship in Ciudad Rodrigo and its surrounding area.
Through its Social Entrepreneurship Incubator, the centre is launching this programme aimed at generating real opportunities for young people in rural areas, promoting innovation and the development of initiatives linked to sustainability.
The project is funded by Ibercaja and Unicaja, and is being carried out in collaboration with the company responsible, “Ruralizáte”. In this first edition, students from the IES “Fray Diego Tadeo” and “Tierra de Ciudad Rodrigo” schools will take part, joining a specialised training pathway on eco-entrepreneurship in which they will develop five green entrepreneurship initiatives, culminating in the implementation of the two microprojects selected from among those developed.
A training pathway to turn ideas into real projects
“Ecoemprende Rural” is structured in several phases combining training, collaborative work and practical application:
- Initial training (April–May): introduction to the key concepts of sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation in rural areas.
- Idea lab (May–October): development of team projects in the classroom, with specialised guidance and mentoring.
- Microproject implementation: rollout of two selected environmental initiatives.
- Visibility phase: promotion of the projects to highlight young talent and its impact on the territory.
Backing young talent to face the challenges of the territory
This initiative seeks to address key challenges such as climate change and rural depopulation, backing young people as agents of change.
“Ecoemprende Rural” shows that rural areas are a space for innovation, opportunity and the future, where new generations can train, start businesses and develop projects with social, economic and environmental impact.
